All Electricians need to have a clear understanding of the IET Wiring Regulations.
Most employers, agencies and registration bodies require electricians to hold a current 17th Edition qualification to satisfy their own entry standards and that of insurers. The IET Wiring Regulations are also known as British Standard 7671 – Requirements for Electrical Installations.
The 17th Edition qualification is in place to make sure all experienced and practising Electricians are up-to-date with all the latest industry regulations on wiring and of course the safe use and operation of all electrical equipment.
The 17th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations came into force in 2008 with two major amendments being made since then. The recent amendment 3 includes new or revised regulations for RCD protection, maximum earth fault loop impedances, domestic consumer units and wiring in escape routes, as well as alterations to the rules for several special locations. All electricians should be aware of these changes.
If you are currently undergoing your electrical training, such as the Level 2 Electrical course, the 17th Edition qualification is an essential part of your development so you can understand and comply with the industry regulations and complete safe wiring work and safe operations of electrical equipment.
At Able Skills we run the 17th Edition course quite frequently from Monday to Wednesday, finished with a two hour multiple choice exam at our centre. This three day course delivers all of the theory elements of the 17th Edition, giving you a clearer understanding of the wiring regulations which will help you to pass the exam and ensure that you consider the regulations when completing electrical work.
Due to the popularity of this course at Able Skills we are now looking to start running the course from Friday to Sunday as well. This will be a great opportunity for any students who are unable to take time off work to complete the course, or those who have been unable to secure a booking on existing courses due to high demand.
You can book our 17th Edition course here.
