You can take on this comprehensive look at the wiring regulations as soon as the 4th of December! Let's look at how this course works and how to get involved...
What is the 18th Edition?
The 18th Edition is the latest edition of the wiring regulations. They are a set of guidelines that all electrician in the UK need to follow when installing wiring of any kind. This is to ensure that everyone is working to the same standard and are working safely - The 18th Edition was published in 2018 by the Institute of Engineering and Technology or IET replacing the previous edition that was first published back in 2008 before being updated in 2015. They've been around since 1882 and are constantly updated as technology changes and how we all interact with tech. So, if you work in electrical installation in any capacity, you need to follow the guidelines set out in the 18th edition.
How will I learn?
As this 3-day course is theory based you will be taught within a classroom-setting and is taught by our instructors who know the wiring regulations back to front after teaching them since they can into effect in 2019. They understand how to convey all of the information you need into this short period at a pace that is easy to follow and understand. They will aim to cover their application through explanation and worked examples as well as ensure that you are fully prepared for the City & Guilds test which is a 2-hour multiple-choice, on-line examination. The exam is 'open book', meaning that you will be able to look up wiring regs and refer to the 18th edition book during the exam process. So the tick is being able to know where to find the information quickly in the book as well as the regulations ' actual real world application.
