Able Skills are known for our teaching excellence. The feedback we receive from our students really puts a smile on our instructors faces when they read the reviews given to them by those they have taught. As the increasing number of students select Able Skills as their construction courses training provider, we make sure we give them the best learning environment through placing them with expert instructors.
Such experience isn’t easy to find but when it comes to following your passion, it somehow always ends well. With that said, we’d like to introduce 2 of our new instructors, Chris Barnes and Tony Gallagher! Let’s find out where they came from and what led them to the Able Skills Training Centre.
Chris Barnes is our new Painting and Decorating instructor who graces us with his 34 years experience in the trade. 15 of those years saw Chris run a successful maintenance business offering such services which eventually lead to a partnership with the local council!
After years of success, Chris decided he needed a new challenge and thought to himself, 'how can i give back?'. Chris had always liked the idea of teaching others and helping them build a successful career just like his. It was at this point he decided to go for his PTLLS qualification which would enable him to teach professionally.
With 5 years of holding the qualification under his belt, it really does compliment his other industry qualifications that helped him become an immediate elite member of Able Skills. Such qualifications include holding his assessors certificate for 7 years, Advanced City & Guilds accredited Painting and Decorating Course, becoming a fully qualified health and safety officer and Chris is even a technical member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Chris plans on continuing to enjoy his new love for teaching others and we're really happy to have found such an expert in the field of decorating.
Able Skills' other new edition to the team also achieved his PTLLS qualification enabling them to help others through teaching. Tony Gallagher, the newest addition to our Bricklaying team, had always thought of following in the footsteps of his family. With his mother being a former teacher, his father a builder and his brother a quantity surveyor, Tony merged all professions and found his love for teaching others construction courses.
On the journey to pursuing a career in teaching, Tony has the skills and knowledge of 30 years within bricklaying. Like many who become experts in their field, Tony thought it would only be right to initially work for himself and did so working alongside various property development companies.
All before attending evening classes to achieve his teaching qualification like Chris, his business bought him great satisfaction, but he wanted to pass such expertise on to others. His students are so lucky to have him as he offers assessors awards and holds experience working with 'Neats' who helps those who left school without qualifications through providing training in construction courses.
Able Skills warmly welcomes Tony and Chris and we hope to see great things from out students knowing they're in good hands! To view the construction courses we offer and perhaps be taught by them click here.
