A climate change expert has suggested the development of green power has sped up in recent years, with this trend potentially increasing demand for renewable energy courses in the UK.
Speaking to BBC News, head of the climate change centre of excellence at financial services provider HSBC Nick Robins claimed the economic downturn has had a positive effect on the sector in some ways.
He was quoted as saying: "The learning curve has accelerated during the crisis, particularly in solar."
The news provider also heard from Alan Thompson, UK director of energy at Arup, who claimed the global economic situation has led firms to move away from "green bling" and towards more practical products - a pattern that may lead to greater interest in renewable energy courses.
This week, Scottish National Party MSP Rob Gibson called on the UK government to allow Scotland to access more funds to create green jobs in the country, highlighting the urgency of investment required.
