Are you an experienced plumber? Here at Able Skills, we have plumbing assessors in place to help you secure yourself this all-important qualification. A National Vocational Qualification is a requirement on most construction sites across the UK! We offer NVQ Level 2 Plumbing Assessments to working plumbers that have yet to achieve this award. Able Skills Plumbing Courses.
How does this work?
Well, the first thing to note is that you will need to be in some sort of employment to begin the process. Whether that means working for a company or you're self-employed working on a domestic premises. We will send one of our trusted Able Skills assessors to your current place of work on 2-separate occasions to judge your competency against industry standards. They will be looming at many aspects, such as how you conduct yourself on the job, how you carry out plumbing tasks and if you do so in a safe manner for both yourself and the homeowner or resident. For this level 2 qualification, the work-based Plumbing assessments will be to establish your competence in being able to:
- Maintain the Safe Working Environment when Undertaking Work Activities.
- Maintain Effective Plumbing Working Relationships.
- Contribute to the Improvement of the Plumbing Work Environment.
- Install Non-complex Plumbing Systems and Components.
- Decommission Non-complex Plumbing Systems.
- Maintain Non-complex Plumbing Systems and Components
An experienced plumber with no previous qualifications?
We understand that there are many ways to end up in the trade and that not everybody has found themselves in the role of plumbing with qualifications such as our City & Guilds Level 2 then know that there is a route for you to successfully achieve an NVQ without having previous qualifications as long as you are experienced within the trade itself! We have developed a process to assist experienced workers currently working in the plumbing industry to achieve C&G 6035 and 6189 (NVQ). If you have worked as a Plumber for many years but have never achieved any qualifications, this route to achieve NVQ doesn’t require you to attend College or a Training Provider for months on end! So...How does this work? Well, we will provide you with a 'Home Study pack' which covers the individual theory units, you will need to really take time with this and make sure that you understand all of the content, obviously, you will have a solid foundation of knowledge but you may not know all of the theory without formal qualifications.
These qualifications are unit structured with:
- Practical Units: These are achieved by a mix of knowledge and practical activities in simulated conditions within the centre.
- Knowledge Units: These units are assessed by multi-choice tests / assignments – undertaken in the training centre.
- Performance Units: These units are achieved by producing evidence from the candidates work activities / workplace.
This Experienced Worker route will require you to:
- Undertake study at home to prepare you for the online exams in centre
- Undertake practical assessments in centre
- To have work-based assessments completed
