What are some alternative training options?

Here at Able Skills, we take pride in our ability to teach a large variety of subjects to our many students, but it has become apparent that there are many people out there thinking about a serious career change, but cannot take the time off work to train! So...we want to raise awareness of some of our alternative training methods!

This is a Level 3 Electrical home study student who is working hard during his currently electrical course.

Weekend Courses:

Yes, you read that correctly, weekend courses. Put down that IPA and get some top-quality training on the weekends! Now not all of our courses are available over weekends but many are including our City & Guilds Level 2 Electrical Course & City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing Course! So if you are interested in either of these trades then this could be a great opportunity for you to put in the work and give up your weekends for a future career, these subjects are trades that can become self-employed roles, an opportunity to become your own boss should never be overlooked!

Home-study Courses:

How does it work? So after enrolling, for example, on our Home Study Electrics Level 2 we send you a 'Home Study Pack'. This pack includes the entire theory aspect of the course as well as other bits of essential information to help prepare you for your 4 practical weeks and online exams at Able Skills. You have the ability to pick and choose which weeks are best for you to undergo your practical training one week at a time. Included within the pack is the opportunity for self-assessment so candidates can check their knowledge and progress along the way. We would expect you to spend at least 3 to 6 months studying the theory aspect of this award before you make arrangements to attend Able Skills to undertake exams and to start the practical training. When you feel ready and you are confident in the knowledge gained from studying at home you can book in the 4-weeks at your discretion. To give you extra help at home, we supply you with a 'SmartScreen' login providing you with additional help!
