The Association of Plumbing & Heating Contractors (APHC) has launched accreditation for plumbers and domestic renewable energy system installed who are eligible to work under the Green Deal Scheme.
APHC will now endorse qualified installers who have been approved under their Green Deal Installer Scheme as a ‘Certified Company’, in the same endorsement they give to people approved under the Competent Persons Scheme.
The chief executive of APHC, John Thompson, said that the endorsement will aid in raising industry standards and increasing opportunities for top quality tradesmen and women.
“Our scheme is highly customer focused, in that installers can join one or all the schemes under one application,” he explained. “This effectively makes the process more cost effective and streamlined compared to other schemes and allows installers to select the work areas they want to be approved against.”
He added that they hope to add a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) to their certification scheme portfolio in the imminent future.
Green Deal Scheme operatives would be endorsed to install energy-saving installations such as ground and air source heat pumps, solar thermal hot water systems, wood biomass boilers and underfloor heating.
