Today we will be talking about our Introduction to Basic Domestic Electrics Course - The ultimate starting point for any aspiring electrician. This course will provide you with the knowledge and practical skills to undertake a domestic electrical installation safely to BS 7671 regulations and to test the installation correctly.

Able Skills Electrical Courses and Electrician Training Are Both City & Guilds Accredited

 

This Introduction to Basic Domestic Electrics Course is City & Guilds recognised which means that upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate.  - The cost is £790 including VAT. A deposit of £300 will secure a booking and the balance can be paid over 2 installments from the start of the course. We also would like to recommend that you get yourself a copy of IET Electricians Guide to the Building Regulations – 3rd Edition which can be found on Amazon and other retailers for around £10! 

 

What will I learn?

 

The course is a mix of workshop and theory and over the 10 days will give you the practical ability and confidence in the following areas of domestic electrical installation:

  • The definition of electric shock
  • Ohms Law & Power Triangles
  • Identification of earthing systems
  • An introduction to legislation surrounding electrical installation in dwellings
  • Understanding breaker and cable selection
  • Installation of earthing and bonding, Ring circuits, Radial circuits, Cooker circuits, various lighting circuits.
  • Completion of installation certificate
  • Understanding basic inspection and testing:
    • Continuity of protective conductors
    • Continuity of protective conductors radial circuits
    • Continuity of protective conductors ring final circuits
    • Insulation resistance
    • Polarity

 

Upon completion of this course there are a few options in front of you and it depends on the type of work that you want to do as an electrician - If you want continue down the path of Domestic Installer then the Domestic Electrical Part-P Package is what you are looking for this course will provide you with further more advanced knowledge and skills in this particular area of electrics. However, if you are interested in being able to work on projects outside of a domestic setting then you should be looking at our Gold Card Approved Electrician Course!
