Young people taking electrical courses and other skilled trades can be excellent staff to help businesses grow and flourish, it has been stated.
Tim Campbell, founder of the Bright Ideas Trust, said taking on apprentices and interns can one of the most rewarding things that firms can do in the present financial climate.
Indeed, these young people can help bring new ideas to the table and are often more loyal to a firm than older workers.
He commented: "We shouldn't forget that businesses of all sizes have a role to play in helping young people develop their careers."
According to Baroness Warsi, Nick Clegg's social mobility strategy will comprise of three complementary internship schemes designed for graduates and undergraduates, college students and secondary students who come from under-represented groups.
Furthermore, from 2012, all departments will advertise their schemes on a central website and outreach will be undertaken to promote internships and work experience to under-represented groups.
