Getting just anyone to carry out a boiler service could potentially put you at serious risk. If you allow someone that isn’t Gas Safe Registered to work on your boiler or gas appliances it could potential put yourself and your home at risk of fires, explosions, gas leaks and carbon monoxide poisoning. Therefore, it is vitally important that you get a Gas Safe Registered Engineer to service your boiler this winter.

Over the last few years many people have been found out for carrying out gas work in people’s homes without having the correct qualifications or training. With Gas Safe now cracking down on people doing this and those found guilty are being faced with huge fines and in some cases a prison sentence. This is because the unsafe work they are carrying out is illegal and more importantly and extreme danger to life.
Most recently it has been reported in the ‘Heating & Plumbing Monthly’ that a man in Norfolk carried out unsafe gas work in someone’s home which resulted a gas leak. He has recently been handed a jail sentence of 14 months.
