Yesterday was the announcement of the 2017 Budget and a strong focus being on the push for more housebuilding needed across the UK. However, this has highlighted the skills shortage that is currently looming over the construction industry, especially in trades such as Bricklayers, Plumbers and Electricians.
This is a piece taking from the Daily Mail:
“Chancellor Philip Hammond plans to put skills training at the heart of a strategy to dramatically increase the number of new homes being built to 300,000 a year.”
With the growing demand for houses across the UK means that more skilled workers are need across the trades. New Bricklayers, Plumbers and Electricians are being targeted, however, workers are needed across all the trades.
The Budget has planned to build up to 300,000 new homes a year up from the previous amount of 170,000. This will require more skilled workers across all trades and with an ongoing skills shortage it means that there will be no shortage of work.
Here at Able Skills we see the skills shortage as a fantastic chance for people to build a new career. With lots of work available for the skilled workers with the correct training and qualifications, it is a great time to get trained up and working in one of many trades.

Learning a new skill can seem like a frightening idea, however, it can open new doors for you in a brand new career.
