The building company assigned to carry out the £86 million expansion of the Diageo plant in Fife has revealed that 150 jobs are being created through the project, which could lead to an increase in demand for bricklaying courses.
BBC News reported that groundwork has begun at the site, with construction firm Rok in charge of creating a new bottling hall, several buildings and other pieces of infrastructure.
Workers in the Fife area may decide to sign up to bricklaying courses to gain expertise in the field before applying for work at the site.
Rok's managing director for Scotland told the news provider: "We feel very fortunate to be part of an investment-and-build programme that will help secure the long-term competitiveness of Scotland's drinks industry."
Last month, drinks giant Diageo revealed that its sales increased 12 per cent in the first three months of 2010 compared to the same period the previous year, according to the BBC.
