A career change can be a very big step in anyone’s life and even bigger if it is something completely different to what they used to do. However, a career change should not be feared because lots of students prove every week that it can be very easy and life changing.
Joe is proving exactly that. Former Joiner, Joe had previously worked with his Dad in a joinery workshop but decided that after doing it for a few years that he wanted a change of scenery doing different jobs. Joe wanted to stay within the construction industry and landed himself a job with a plastering firm.
Joe is enjoying his career change so far on his plastering course.
After working in the same workshop day to day, Joe began to find it all a bit tedious doing the same thing each day. In his new role for the plastering firm it is regular job to job work and always something new and different.
The plan was to learn on the job, however, Joe decided to show some commitment and determination to his career change and enrol on a training course here at Able Skills. After initially only booking the introduction and advanced courses, Joe decided to upgrade to the City & Guilds Plastering course.
He is now four weeks into his plastering course and he cannot believe how much he has learnt in such a short space of time. Considering he started with absolutely no knowledge at all of plastering, he is now feeling confident in his skills and even reckons he could complete some small jobs.
Thanks to his instructors, Spencer and Jo, he has been able to progress very quickly and get some fantastic knowledge from the two very experienced tutors. Joe had lots of praise for both instructors and is looking forward to the final weeks of his course and getting out their working in his new career.
