Our carpentry students are working very hard in our centre to close the skills gap and begin their new careers in the carpentry industry.
The skills shortage is still ongoing in the construction industry and more Carpenters are needed. In a recent survey, it showed that Carpenters, along with Bricklayers are the hardest skilled workers to employ as there simply isn’t enough of them. Our carpentry students have seen this as an opportunity to change their careers.
If you are looking to begin a new career as a Carpenter there are a few routes you can take, however, one of the most popular starting points is with the City & Guilds Diploma Carpentry course. Our diploma courses are available at both levels 2 and 3. With a mixture of practical and theory tasks it gives you great preparation for work as a Carpenter.
Depending on their future goal, some will even go onto the NVQ qualification so they can get a CSCS card to allow them to work on-site. We also offer the on-site assessments that are needed for our students to achieve the NVQ.
Our carpentry courses are available on a full-time option and we also offer weekend training options for those people who have other commitments.
Our carpentry students are given the best possible training by our four full time carpentry instructors. Having more instructors allows our students to get great training throughout their courses.
Recently our carpentry centre has been renovated and is perfectly equipped for carpentry students of all levels. We have had lots of new tools bought to give our students the chance to use the best tools as they learn their trade.
Along with our short carpentry courses and diplomas, we also offer a hands on course that is perfect for students looking to gain an advanced knowledge of carpentry without completing a long qualification course.
Our current group of carpentry students are tackling a range of carpentry tasks and here is a video of them working hard this afternoon:
