Another year is quickly coming to an end and 2017 is edging closer and closer. When a new year comes along lots of people make resolutions for the upcoming year. One of the biggest changes a lot of people will make is to change career and start fresh in the new year.
Working in the same job and in the same industry every day can become very tedious. Most people that do not enjoy their current careers will never actually do anything about it. With many of them using excuses saying they do not have time to retrain, or they are too old to start again. These are only excuses because lots of people have proved that it is possible to start a new career in a completely different industry.
Able Skills have proven that is never too late to start again and change career. Hundreds of students each year come to Able Skills and get the skills they need to make a fresh start in their career. Many people will not look to the construction industry for work, because they won’t realise how much work is available for construction workers in the UK.
One of the most popular trades right now is bricklaying and probably the best trade to get into. Bricklayers are needed all over the UK because of the added number of new houses being built over the next few years. The shortage of construction staff in general has been well documented, however, Bricklayers have been noted to be the hardest to employ because there isn’t enough skilled Bricklayers. At the beginning of the year it was reported that some Bricklayers were being paid up to £25 an hour by some companies as they were in such high demand.
Here at Able Skills we offer a variety of bricklaying courses, from short courses to longer qualification courses. We are currently taking bookings for 2017 and lots of people are already booked to begin their journey to change career by training as a Bricklayer. If you are looking for a career as a Bricklayer the City & Guilds Bricklaying course is the perfect option and if you are looking to work on-site, you can upgrade this course to the NVQ qualification.
To work on-site as a Bricklayer, you will need to have a CSCS card that proves you are a skilled Bricklayer. To achieve this, you will need to complete the NVQ course and several on-site assessments that can be carried out by our NVQ assessors at Able Skills.
We offer our own accommodation here at Able Skills for just £20 a night for students who may be travelling from a long distance. If you are interested in becoming a Bricklayer or training in one of our many other trades, please come and visit us down in Dartford and we will be more than happy to show you around.
