A church has received a blessing after tradesmen with PV training fitted solar panels on the building.
St Michael and All Angels received the approval from the Right Reverend Anthony Priddis today (May 9th 2011) following the completion of the 12th century structure's redevelopment to make it more environmentally-friendly.
The church in Ledbury, Worcestershire, has seen 54 solar panels installed by tradesmen with PV training in order to make it more self-sufficient and save money on electricity bills.
It is thought that they will help generate nearly ten kilowatts of energy.
Before the Bishop was hoisted to the top of the church for the blessing, he told BBC News: "The more we can care for the environment, the more we can make use of our buildings, the more we can serve our communities, the more we can give a lead, the better."
His remarks could encourage more people to take part in renewable energy courses, along with RenewablesUK's recent comments on Business Green, saying the current approach to working towards environmentally-friendly targets does work.
