There may soon be more interest in PV training in Essex as Colchester Council has announced plans to fit thousands of solar panels on council houses and other buildings it owns.
Proposals unveiled by the local authority suggest 2,000 homes will benefit from the technology, as well as other facilities such as the Leisure World sports centre.
The deal is likely to involve hiring a number of workers with PV training qualifications and Paul Smith, the councillor responsible for resources, told the Gazette there has been plenty of interest from local companies regarding subcontracting.
He added: "We're not going to make it compulsory for tenants at this stage, but the deal that's on offer is such a good one, an awful lot of people will take it up straight away."
Another institution to take the step towards renewable energy is Llandudno primary school Ysgol Morfa Rhianedd, which is installing 22 of the devices, according to North Wales Weekly.
