There is plenty of competition among technicians in the wind power sector, according to one source, which could prompt professionals to take renewable energy courses to stay ahead of their rivals.
Acre Resources associate Ben Cartland explained that the number of positions available in the industry has increased significantly over the past few years.
However, he stressed that many of the jobs are non-skilled roles, whereas "competition is rife" for engineers who have taken renewable energy courses and have experience of working in the wind power sector.
The recruitment expert made his comments in response to research by RenewableUK and Energy & Utility Skills showing a 91 per cent increase in full-time employment in the industry between 2007/08 and 2009/10.
Mr Cartland said: "There has been a surge in the number of wind power-focused companies developing their operations in the UK, [but] these figures seem to focus on every job function."
