Consider taking Home-Study Electrician courses during lockdown!
In line with the newest restrictions coming into effect from November 5th as an education establishment, just like any college throughout the UK we will be operating as usual providing electrician courses and other training with social distancing measures in place. Keeping our staff and students safe at this moment in time is a high priority and we are doing what we can to ensure that we are providing a space that is secure and reliable. Thinking about a new career? There is plenty of uncertainty at the moment surrounding employment and many people are looking for new opportunities and training. Here at Able Skills we offer 'Home-Study' training options for both our City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 Electrical courses - These options allow you to get started working towards industry recognised qualifications from the comfort of your own home!
What are Home-Study courses?
This training method is unique to our centre, in the past we recommended this option to those with an existing job looking to re-train or those with kids and so on. However, this option is now perfect for anybody looking to learn the trade of electrics during this upcoming lockdown period from the comfort of your own home! Obviously you will not be tasked with learning everything by yourself, instead this course breaks up each qualification into two parts; theory and practical. We will send you a 'Home-Study pack' which will include all of the theory, it has been specially designed to gradually introduce you to electrical theory, learning the definitions, formulas, processes and much more. With the pack you will also have access to the online learning platform 'Smartscreen' as a second source of information. There will also be test questions within the pack so that you can test you knowledge as you study - Ideally, we would prefer that you spend at least 6-weeks reviewing the 'Home-Study electrician pack' before you consider attending for your first block of practical training. Once you feel confident that you have understood everything within the pack then you will contact us to book 20-days worth of time to learn the practical side here at our centre and to complete the relevant assessments in order to achieve your qualification. This time should be separated as opposed to a 4-week block and can be chosen to suit you! Whilst here at the centre you will be taught just like you would on the traditional course, getting stuck in with hands-on practical task taught by our expert instructors. Our instructors are very good at what they do and have years of experience both working out in the electrical industry and here at our centre teaching. Our electrical workshops are equipped with all the tools, resources and appliances you could possibly need and the time you'll spend getting to grips with the practical side is structured very well and have a natural progression to get you to the final practical assessments. How can I get started?
You can book this Home Study Electrics Level 2 course with us either by giving us a call on 01322 280 202 - Over the phone we can answer any questions or concerns that you have and secure your place on the course, once booked we will prepare your pack immediately and have it delivered to your address. You can also visit our centre in person to take a look around and speak with members of staff just ensure you are wearing a face covering and following social distancing guidelines. We will also provide email contact with one or more of our electrical assessors in case you have any questions not covered in the pack or generally for some help and guidance if needed.
By undertaking this ‘Home Study’ electrical course, you are effectively replacing your access to an instructor in a classroom environment with a home learning theory pack. As this is the case, we have put together very comprehensive study packs to ‘replace the tutor’ allowing you to study your electrician course at home. However, please be aware that should you fail an exam at the centre, we do offer a free re-sit – hopefully this will take the pressure off if you feel that you haven’t devoted enough time to the home learning.
