Consider turning to a career as a Gas Engineer!
Research by Powered Now has found that 13% of Brits are considering turning to the gas trade for employment. It is great to see an increase in people interested in the trade of Gas, there are plenty of opportunities for people with the right knowledge and ability in this trade and generally in the trade industry. Their research also suggests that 18% of Brits agree they are now considering employment within a trade sector - With such uncertainty surrounding employment at the moment due to the ongoing pandemic it makes sense that people are considering new careers and thinking about gaining valuable skills that they can rely on and even become self-employed through. Becoming a Gas Engineer is not an easy task and will take real concentration and effort, however, the rewards are fantastic, with plenty of work out there for qualified and competent workers. Here at our training centre we are continuing to teach Gas courses for aspiring Gas Engineers during this time with social distancing measures in place!
Here at Able Skills we have been teaching Gas courses for many years. We understand what it takes to go from having a limited amount of experience to being prepared for the industry. Our instructors who will be teaching you are very much experienced professionals with many years spent on the tools and now years spent teaching others. They know how to convey the lessons they've learnt during their career and the mistakes they made when starting out as a new entrant, hopefully giving you a good insight on how to successfully and confidently enter the trade.
We offer Gas course packages specifically for new entrants. For example our New Entrant Gas Training Package 2 includes 7-weeks of hands-on training, portfolio completion and an ACS assessment. All of which are required for Gas Safe Registration, a legal requirement here in the UK. During the initial 7-weeks of training you will effectively learn to become an engineer from scratch. The course will cover a huge range of topics in all areas of domestic gas safety, training to work safely around electrical systems, hot and cold water theory, pipe-work, Gas rates, Flueing and so much more!
There has never been a better time to consider your options and begin on the path towards a new career. The statistics talked about today, highlight to us that people do understand the value in trade skills. Having a trade skill at your deposal means that you always have some form of work to fall back on. Addiotnaly, Gas Engineers earn a very decent living, with the average yearly earnings for a new professional sitting around £32,000 and more experienced traders seeing an annual salary of around £60,000!

If you live outside of the local area then you may be interested in our accommodation for the duration of your Gas courses or any other training. Our accommodation properties are all within a short walking distance of our centre and have quick access to local amenities. The properties will provide you with your own fully furnished room with washing facilities and TV. There are several bathrooms/WCs as well as fully fitted kitchens and a dining areas to eat and/or meet your fellow students. - If you are interested make sure that you contact us well ahead of your starting date as spaces are limited and tend to go quickly!
