The importance of quality gas courses has been shown after two children died while on holiday in Corfu as a result of carbon monoxide that escaped from a faulty boiler.
Industry body Gas Safe Register responded by urging people to take portable carbon monoxide alarms with them when they go on holiday, even in the UK.
This could lead to an increase in demand for gas courses, as establishments up and down the country try to ensure that their heating equipment is up to scratch.
Chief executive of Gas Safe Register Paul Johnston suggested that lives could be saved by people taking extra precautions such as carrying the alarms.
He explained: "Carbon monoxide is a highly poisonous gas and with no colour, taste or smell, it can kill quickly without warning."
The parents of Christianne and Robert Shepherd - who were seven and six years old respectively when they passed away - have said that they are "beyond disappointment" after a Greek court cleared a tour company of any wrongdoing in the case.
