A housing industry expert has suggested the self-build sector of the property market is in the ascendency, which could mean more domestic contracts for tradesmen on electrical courses.
Jaclyn Thorburn, spokeswoman for BuildStore, claimed that this method of constructing a home can work out to be more affordable.
In addition, she pointed out that people can choose exactly how they want the property to be built, which is helping the popularity of this approach to purchasing a house.
She said that self-build projects have a "wide appeal", which could mean more consumers will require the services of technicians who have completed professional construction training such as electrical courses.
Housing minister Grant Shapps recently declared that he wants to take away the red tape from this area of the property market.
"There has always been a large aspirant self-build market in the UK, so this could be the start of a new housebuilding revolution," added Ms Thorburn.
