Getting the right qualifications in any trade is vitally important when looking for work, as without them you will struggle to get the right work. This goes for Painters & Decorators as well. If you don’t have the correct qualifications (Decorating NVQ) you will not get work on any building site across the UK.
With it now being a requirement for all site workers to have a CSCS Skilled workers card, it is now extremely important that everyone has an NVQ in their chosen trade. Without an NVQ you will not have the ability to apply for a CSCS Card, therefore not gaining access to work on-site.
Gone are the days where a bit of experience will get you work on-site, all the correct qualifications are required to gain the right cards and get working. Painting & Decorating requires a lot of in-depth and technical skill, this is why getting the right training is so important.
Here at Able Skills, we offer the perfect pathway to get you where you need to be in the industry. From a beginner to a qualified Decorator. The NVQ Level 2 Painting and Decorating Course is seven weeks where you learn everything you need to know about painting and decorating. Once this is complete you will then begin with your on-site assessments to achieve the all important Decorating NVQ qualification.
We also understand that a lot of people out there are highly skilled Decorators but have never got the qualifications. This is why we offer two further routes to gaining an NVQ as a Painter & Decorator. See here:
The OSAT route is for those Decorators that have been working in the industry for less than five years and now need to achieve an NVQ to gain a CSCS Card. For this route here at Able Skills we can arrange work-based assessments carried out by our NVQ assessors. This will let you prove your competency as a Decorator and help you gain an NVQ. You will need access to site work where our assessor can come out and assess you. Also, you will need to be within a 60-mile radius of our training centre for our assessors to come out to your place of work.
The next route is the EWPA (Experienced Worker Practical Assessment) which is for the time-served Decorators that have been working in the industry for over five years but need a Painting & Decorating NVQ. To qualify for this route, you will need to give at least five years’ worth of evidence showing you have worked as a Decorator. Once you have done this you will come in for a profiling at our centre in Dartford. This will be followed up by completing a portfolio of work completed and a 2-day practical assessment here in our centre to test your competency.
