The popularity of PV courses could be set to rise near Swindon in Wiltshire, after Cheshire firm Blue Energy completed the construction of the biggest solar farm in Britain.
It was finished in under eight weeks as the company raced to meet the August 1st deadline imposed by the government on developments that wish to receive a higher return on their green power generation activity.
Speaking to Manchester Evening News, managing director of Blue Energy Chris Dean explained that the firm had to work with several business partners to ensure that it was all finished before that date.
"To complete the UK's largest solar energy farm in such a short period of time is a tremendous achievement," he told the publication.
This week, Leeds City Council is set to be told about the benefits of solar power, with executive member for environmental services Mark Dobson pointing out to the Yorkshire Post that it allows access to low-cost electricity.
