Technicians who have completed an electrical course relating to green technology may be needed more in the future, if one industry commentator is correct about a new trend in the construction sector.
Anwar Harland-Khan, chief executive of Sustain Worldwide, claimed that a premium will soon be placed on properties that incorporate environmentally-friendly techniques and devices into their design.
This could mean that engineers who have studied the installation and maintenance of such equipment on an electrical course may need to be brought in to complete such construction projects.
Mr Harland-Khan said: "The combination of legislation, increasing fuel costs and a more educated house buyer means that the demand for green homes will undoubtedly increase."
In his opinion, there has already been a rise in the number of people wanting energy-efficient houses.
This week, a report published by Knight Frank called on the government to produce a clearer definition of the concept of zero-carbon construction.
