There are certain home improvement tasks that are better handled by a professional who has undertaken relevant training such as electrical courses.
Jim Hustwit, UK country manager at MyHammer, explained that projects involving electricity and gas should not be attempted by regular homeowners.
In his opinion, it is essential to find someone who has the appropriate electrical course qualifications to carry out this type of work.
Mr Hustwit said: "There is a reason that you pay a premium for people to come and do this because quite often it is not as easy as you had hoped."
He noted that many consumers will consider carrying out DIY projects themselves in order to save money, but it is not always possible.
The MyHammer representative's comments follow the news that 64 per cent of people are willing to pay cash for home improvement help to cut the cost of such work, according to a study by Bondpay.
