Taking an electrical course has certainly paid off for one teenager.
Scott Wigmore, who is currently employed by Paul Cook of PRP Electrical in Bridgwater, has scooped a young apprentice of the year award.
According to the Bridgewater Mercury, the 19-year-old has been handed vouchers to the value of £1,000, as well as tools and workwear.
Mr Wigmore has also been chosen to compete in UK SkillELECTRIC Apprentice of the Year 2010 regional competition
Electrical trainer Roger Rogers told the publication: "If successful, Scott will be shortlisted for the national finals in October and he may even be shortlisted for the World Skills 2011, competing against entrants from 56 countries."
Speaking to the Daily Mirror earlier this week, Cowboy Builders host Dominic Littlewood said it is important to always use properly qualified tradesmen when having work carried out on your home.
He added that the best way to find a good electrician or plumber is through recommendations from others.
