Electrical course take-up could be set to increase in the near future, after an expert suggested the UK workforce need more skills.
According to Farhan Yasin, president EMEA of CareerBuilder.com, training and qualifications could be the key to avoiding a serious rise in unemployment in the UK.
He explained there is currently a "disparity" between the skills employees have and the skills demanded by certain jobs, which means many people are unsuitable for jobs across a variety of sectors.
However, he suggested this could be offset by learning.
"We need to start re-educating our workforce in areas that there are going to be long term employment opportunities for," he said.
Otherwise, Mr Yasin stated, other European countries could start to take these job prospects away from the British labour force.
Career Builder is an online jobs site for the UK and powers career centres for website that aim to reach national, regional, industry and niche audiences.
