A home building industry source has suggested the government is starting to recognise the need for the housing stock in the UK to be boosted, which could create new opportunities for technicians with electrical course training.
Steve Turner, head of communications at the Home Builders Federation (HBF), suggested this type of policy could help spark an economic recovery in the country.
He called on the state to show its support for the sector by dedicating more funding in the upcoming Budget to such projects, which may require the skills of tradesmen who have completed electrical courses if they are approved.
"There seems to be a realisation within government that we need to increase house building," said Mr Turner.
"A lot of the announcements and statements that we are seeing reflect the recognition."
The HBF spokesperson made his comments in response to research by the Institute for Public Policy Research, which indicated that demand for housing could outstrip supply by 750,000 in 2025 if things continue as they are.
