Interest in electrical courses in Wales could be set to increase, after it was revealed that a new £2 billion project to install windfarms off the north coast of the country will go ahead.
The RWE Innogy-led initiative will see 160 wind turbines constructed by 2014 and 1,000 jobs could be created for workers in the construction industry.
This may spur engineers on to sign up to electrical courses, so that they can be well-qualified to apply for work on the Gwynt y Mor windfarm, which will be located about ten miles off the coast of Colwyn Bay and Llandudno.
"Surrounded by wind, wave and tidal resources, we are in a prime position to be able to benefit from investment in the green economy," explained Welsh secretary Cheryl Gillan to BBC News.
The Scunthorpe Telegraph recently claimed steel producer Corus could be well placed to provide the underwater platforms required to support the wind turbines.
