Electrical Courses - Why Dean Rochard Chose his!

Richard Dean is one of the newest students here at Able Skills who today has started the Advanced Domestic Installer Course (one of the many Electrical Courses we offer). As we caught Richard just beginning his training, we thought it would be a good idea to find out a bit more about his background, why he's here and what he aims to do in the future.

So Dean is undergoing the Advanced Domestic Installer Course. Comprising of 5 individual electrical courses, here's how the learning material is structured:

• Course 1 - C&G 4555 - Introduction to Domestic Electrical Installation and Understanding Electrical Installation and Applicable Building Regulations: 10 Days
• Course 2 – C&G 2382-18 (18^th Edition): 3 Days
• Course 3 – C&G 2377-22 – Portable Appliance (PAT) Testing - 2 Days
• Course 4 – C&G 2392-10 Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification 
• Course 5 – C&G 2391-50: Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations: 5 Days

 

What are you doing at the moment?

 

Currently Dean works for the family business as a Heating Engineer. He saw an opportunity to add additional services to such business as he currently works on domestic properties and has been doing so for 6 years now. Having gained great experience thus far, he seeks a new challenge within domestic electrical work and hence set his eyes on Able Skills Electrical Courses.

Why Able Skills?

 

Dean explained that he lived locally and when discovering our online presence, he was really impressed with what he saw on Able Skills. It was things like the website, blog and social media images and live videos that really drew his initial attention to us. It was after this he then realised the quality of the training we provide through facilities, teaching and tremendous experience.

What stands out to you the most on your first day?

 

Dean told us on his first impressions that his electrical instructor (Clive) was exceptionally knowledgeable. This is what we would expect as our instructors are industry experts who not only once gained their electrical qualifications, but have worked in all aspects of the industry starting from the bottom. As it is only his first day in one of our electrical centres, it was the facilities that caught his attention too. Dean can look forward to having his own bay for practical tasks with side by side help from Clive for the remainder for his Part P Course.

Future plans

 

Dean will begin to apply what he learns here at Able Skills to his current family business and offer electrical work as an additional service. From here he will most certainly begin to advert private jobs for extra money before then delving into the commercial sector. In order to do this, Dean has already set his sights on more Part P Courses that focuses on commercial electric installations so we might see Dean here at our Dartford Centre for a while!
