Engineers who have completed electrical training courses have installed several fire safety products at the newly-opened Earlston High School in Scotland.
Privately-owned company Graham Construction fitted a Bilco smoke vent and control panel, fireman's override switch and smoke detector in the new-build secondary school, which is situated in an ecologically-sensitive location on a sloping site overlooking the town.
Project director Neil McFarlane said that the firm used Bilco products on previous projects and knows that they will meets its specifications.
"The 140-degree smoke vent hatches meet the key requirements of reliability in operation and offer long life with easy maintenance and testing," he stated.
Mr McFarlane added that they were also quick and easy to install.
Meanwhile, the project achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating based on a post-construction assessment thanks to sustainable features such as biomass boilers and wind turbines, which were included in the school's design by Edinburgh architects 3DReid.
