Tradespersons who taken an electrician training course could find themselves more popular with potential employers due to their approved electrical qualifications.
It was recently revealed that the East Midlands Property Alliance (EMPA) has been awarded with National Skills Academy for Construction status, which means the body is now able to deliver a variety of skills development and training schemes for construction workers.
And the news is particularly positive, according to Construction Skills regional strategy advisor for the East Midlands Amanda Sergeant, because there is currently a significant lack of trained professionals.
"Two-thirds of employers report problems finding sufficiently skilled and experienced staff, so innovative on-site solutions such as this are a welcome opportunity for people to gain much needed qualifications," she explained.
She added that one in six construction workers has no formal qualifications at all.
Construction Skills became the Sector Skills Council for the building sector in 2003.
