Tradespersons who have taken electrician training courses could make it more comfortable for older Britons to live in their homes, following comments from Foundations.
The national body for home improvement agencies recently suggested that Britain's ageing society will increase the need for more adaptations to be made in properties where old people reside.
And according to a spokeswoman for the organisation, making alterations to their homes would be extremely beneficial for a number of reasons.
"Installing a level-access shower, securing a loose carpet or fitting grab rails can considerably reduce the likelihood of a person having an accident in the home or being admitted to hospital," she said.
She went on to stated that adding things like stairlifts and ground-floor bathrooms could also help people with mobility problems and enable them to stay in their homes for longer.
The representative went on to explain that home adaptations are a growing market, which could provide talented tradespersons with increasing employment opportunities.
