Tradespersons who have completed an electrician training course could be needed to help fix problems with underfloor electric heating, following comments from a property expert.
Writing for the Daily Telegraph, Jeff Howell - who has 15 years' experience in the construction sector - responded to a query from a reader whose mother's heating system had failed in her open-plan 60s detached house.
"[Underfloor electric heating] is now more common than it was 40 years ago and you should have no trouble finding installers to investigate the fault," he commented.
He added that it should be relatively easy for approved workers to fix the problem.
If the issue is due to a broken cable, Mr Howell explained, they can locate its exact position by passing a radio signal down the wire.
His comments could leave tradespersons who have taken electrical training courses in demand to repair problems like this, especially with the level of expertise required.
