Plastering instructor, Jo was in the spotlight at Able Skills a few months ago when his wife Sally and daughter Katie made history after they become the first mother and daughter to work for the London Fire Brigade at the same time.
A few months on Sally has been rewarded for her great service to the London Fire Brigade after she was given an award on the Queen’s 90th Birthday honours list. She has been awarded with the Queen’s Fire Service Medal at Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday honours list.
Just a couple of months after making firefighter history, Sally is in the headlines again with her high reward for her great service to the London Fire Brigade and Jo and daughter Katie are very proud!
Sally first joint the London Fire Brigade back in 1988 and she was one of only seven women that was in the London Fire Brigade at the time. Her achievements are now being recognised and she has inspired her daughter and many other women to become a firefighter.
It is the 150th Anniversary of the London Fire Brigade this year and to mark the Queen’s 90th Birthday Sally has been awarded with the Queen’s Fire Service medal.
She has apparently described it as the ‘icing on the cake’!
Jo is a long serving member of staff at Able Skills and he has been giving fantastic plastering training every week that he has been here with us. He has generations of plasterers in his family and he carried on the tradition. His training is extremely appreciated by all his students and they all come away very happy with his training.
I am sure that Jo is extremely proud of Sally’s achievement within the London Fire Brigade, from when women weren’t the norm to work as firefighters, to making history with their daughter and now being named on the Queen’s 90th Birthday honours list.
