A 35-year-old mother who changed careers after leaving her nursing job has become the first female electrician to be employed by Trafford Housing Trust.
Carolyn Corcoran obtained her electrical qualifications at a college in Tameside, where she was the sole mature student.
In addition to becoming the first woman to be employed as an electrician by the trust, she is also the first to have had a child seat fitted in her van in order to make it easier for her to take her five-year-old son, Todd, to school.
Previously, she had to drop him off in her own vehicle before switching to her van to complete the day's work.
Earlier this week, Assetz chief executive Stuart Law commented that improvements in the mortgage lending sector could indicate recovery in the property market.
This could spell good news for those who are set to complete an electrical training course in the coming months, as improved market conditions could mean greater employment opportunities.
