Travelling from Scotland can be seen as a long journey to Able Skills, however, this one student has travelled all the way from Chile in South America.

Here at Able Skills we get students from all over the world to train with us at our training centre in Dartford. However, it isn’t every week that we have a student that has travelled all the way from South America. Douglas has travelled from Chile to train with us at Able Skills.

Originally from Swansea, Wales, Douglas has been living out in Chile for many years and has decided to come back to the UK to train in three different trades.

Douglas has been working as a Casino Manager in Chile, however, he felt it was time for a change in his career and has decided construction is the way forward for him. He is starting with the Multi-Craft course where he is completing two weeks of bricklaying training, two weeks of plumbing training and finally two weeks of tiling training.

When he was living in Swansea he used to do some building work, however, it was not to a fantastic standard and he wanted to continue his training to make sure he is completing some good work. He had always done building work with his family when he was younger and he now is looking forward to revisiting this line of work.

Today is his first day of training with us as he starts with our bricklaying courses at the beginning of six weeks of training. So far, he is really enjoying his training and has praised the professional standards of teaching at Able Skills.

Douglas has travelled all the way from Chile to train with us.

He told us that the construction industry and property market is booming in Chile right now and a great chance for him to get work.

Some may ask, why come all the way to Dartford to train?

The standard of teaching over here is better and he also said that he will benefit more from training over here because of the Spanish spoken training in Chile.

Douglas is over here for eight weeks where he will train for six weeks with us at Able Skills and then go visit his family in Swansea for the further two. He will then go back to Chile to begin his new career.

We would like to wish Douglas the best of luck with his training and hope he achieves everything and more from his courses.
