Those attending renewable energy courses could find themselves being employed to future-proof people's homes when they are qualified.
Editor of Build It magazine Anna-Marie DeSouza suggested that a growing number of people are beginning to think about how they are going to afford retirement and are taking measures now to make matters easier.
This includes making green improvements to their houses.
"Many sensible folk are future-proofing their homes for easy access for old age or fitting renewable technologies so that energy is more affordable for them over the years ahead," Ms DeSouza remarked.
Approximately 16 per cent of people in the UK will spend money on improving their homes during the next two bank holiday weekends, according to moneysupermarket.com.
Research from the online company also found that 19 per cent of people expect to take out a loan to do up their property sometime in the near future.
