This has been a weird couple of months for all of us. Looking ahead here at Able Skills we are getting all of our students back on track and getting new students started slowly but surely. This lockdown period may have given you time to think about your career and current job; If you're thinking about a new path then consider Gas training courses with us! Gas courses at Able Skills.
Of course, our training centre will look a lot different these days. With the social distancing measures in place, our students will now be working more separate in their own workstations, will be presented with separate tools and equipment and overall there will be fewer students at our centre at any given time. We are doing everything we can to make sure that we do not rush this process, we are implementing measures to ensure social distancing and overall a safe and controlled working environment for all students.

To ensure social distancing here at our centre we need to reduce the number of students training with us at any given time, however, we still want to be providing training to whoever wants it. We are offering a range of alternative training methods to our students so that you can get started with training from home, learning the theory side of the trade away from the centre and then coming in to take on the practical side and assessments.
Traditional courses:
Our New Entrant Gas Training Package 2 is a great way to kick off a new career in the trade. This package of gas training, portfolio placement and ACS assessment. For New Entrants looking to access the gas industry, this is an obvious choice. Starting with 7-weeks of hands-on practical training and classroom-based theory classes. Next, work placement! Following the completion of this 7-week gas training, you will be deemed competent to undertake supervised gas work and so the next step towards Gas Safe registration will be to demonstrate your competence in the work-place and you do this by working alongside a Gas Safe Registered Engineer who acts as your on-site verifier, helping you to build a portfolio of evidence and prove your competence and safety working with Gas.
Able Skills is approved by BPEC for the purposes of Gas Assessment and successful candidates will receive certification for their CCN1 and Appliances from Bpec. After completing this the only step you will need to take to begin working out in the industry is becoming 'Gas Safe Registered'. All of our training bays contain a range of different gas appliances ensuring that you have the opportunity to work on boilers, cookers, heaters, water heaters and gas meters. We have a range of new and older appliances to reflect reality to ensure that all candidates gain an appreciation of as many gas appliances as possible.

Virtual Training:
We are currently putting together Gas training courses that can start virtually. You will learn the theory side of the trade from home through the use of videos and online classroom sessions with the instructor and fellow students. These online lessons will be of the same quality as our traditional courses. This is a great way to learn the theory side and a way to prepare for the practical side here at the centre.
