Gas courses in action this week at Able Skills!

Here this week at our training centre we are continuing to provide Gas training courses at a social distance. Our students have been getting stuck into some practical tasks this week taking on a variety of different tasks. Our courses are very comprehensive and involve a real mix of both hands-on practical sessions in our workshops and classroom-based theory sessions. Our instructors are experts in the trade and will be on hand at all times to guide you and answer any questions. We have been providing Gas training courses for almost 20-years, we understand what a new entrant to the industry needs in terms of knowledge and ability as well as having the teachers and facilities to have you leave our centre feeling confident about starting a new, successful career in the trade. Looking into becoming a Gas Engineer? To make things as simple and as straightforward as possible we put all the steps you need to enter the industry into concise packages both for new entrant and experienced plumbers looking to add gas to their skillset.  Our New Entrant Gas Training Package 2 for example, is the absolute best way to kick-start a new career in this industry and includes all of the necessary steps that you need before looking to become Gas Safe Registered - Which is a legal requirement for anybody working with gas appliances here in the UK. This package of learning is devised to take you step by step through the various training in the essential skills required to become a safe and competent Gas Engineer. We believe that what we offer is the most comprehensive gas training course on the market today.

How does the process work?

Step one is the initial 7-weeks of training. During these, you will cover a huge range of topics including; health and safety, heating controls, soldering techniques, dimension calculations, hot and cold water theory, legislation, pipework, flueing, gas rates and so much more. These weeks will be mixed between classroom-based lessons and in workshops experience in an aim to give you the ability and the knowledge behind why you are doing what you are doing when carrying out tasks.

Step two is to find a 'placement'. Meaning you will need to work alongside an already qualified and registered engineer to gather evidence to put in your portfolio. A portfolio is required in preparation for your ACS and Gas Safe Registration. The portfolio is a chance to test your ability to work under pressure and your ability to ensure safety in every situation and most importantly of all, it provides you with the opportunity to work alongside an experienced Gas Engineer where you will learn more expanding on your experience so far.

The final step on this package is your ACS assessment also known as Approved Certification Scheme. This examination process will test both your practical ability and theory knowledge. You will take on Core Gas Safety as standard but you can also undertake assessments for; Central Heating Boilers, Combustion Performance Analysis, Domestic Cookers, Gas Fires and Wall Heaters, Meters and Warm Air Heating Appliances.

If you live a considerable distance from our centre then you may be interested in booking our accommodation for the duration of your Gas courses with us. Our accommodation can be booked for the reasonable price of just £20 per night! All properties are within a short walking distance of the training centre and have easy access to local shops and other amenities. The properties will provide you with your own fully furnished room with washing facilities and TV. There are several bathrooms/WCs as well as fully fitted kitchens and a dining areas to eat and/or meet your fellow students. - If you are interested make sure to contact us ahead of your courses' starting date as spaces are limited!
