Get started with Electrician courses in March 2021!
Looking to put this year behind you and focus on a new career? We understand that there are a lot of people thinking about their current line of work and looking towards better and more secure opportunities. Here at Able Skills, we have been providing Electrician courses for over 18+ years! We know what goes into training a student from the absolute basics to a professional level. Our City & Guilds Level 2 Electrical course is a perfect starting point. The course is 7-weeks in total, focusing on the fundamentals of the trade in an aim to prepare you for work within Commercial and Industrial premises. Let's take a look at this course in more detail and the next available dates in March...
What will I gain from the course?
You will learn to become an electrician from scratch. This 7-week program is a real mix of both classroom-based theory lessons and hands-on practical training within our workshops. This course has been planned and structured to provide and help develop regulation knowledge, practical skills and science required for electrical installation work; you'll start with the fundamentals and as the course progresses you will gain extensive knowledge of the theory behind the trade. If successful on course you will achieve a City & Guilds qualification which is highly regarded within the industry. You will not be ready to start working upon completion of this course but you will have a fantastic starting point to work from and will have gained a solid understanding of the basic theory as well as a good amount of practical experience.
What's next?
After this course, the next logical step is to take on our City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical course - This is, again, 7-weeks of training that will expand on what you learnt in the previous course and further your understanding of the trade as a whole. This is the natural progression for anyone who holds a recognised level 2 qualification and is the next step towards becoming a qualified Electrician and starting to work in the industry. However, before you can think about being on-site you will also need to gain an understanding of the latest wiring regulations also known at the 18th Edition...
the 18th Edition or Wiring Regulations are the guidelines for electrical installations. They aim to ensure that everyone in the UK is working safely and at the same standard. It is essential that electricians and anybody working with electrical installations has a reasonable understanding of the regulations. If you don’t have the 18th Edition, or don’t know what the regulations include, your installations may not meet the current standard, which could mean that your installations are unsafe or inefficient. We run a 3-day 18th Edition course that will aim to give you an understanding of as well as familiarity with the layout, content and application of the wiring regulations themselves, you'll learn their meanings, how to find the relevant information in the book itself and touch on how to apply this documentation to actual work, out on the job.
