An energy expert has highlighted how the government's Green Deal initiative places a strong emphasis on creating jobs, which could benefit technicians on electrical courses.
Paul Hamblyn, consultancy services manager at Pulse 24, told delegates at the Energy Services and Technology Association (Esta) Debate that there are plenty of details to be figured out regarding the project.
However, he pointed out two of the major goals of the Green Deal are to deliver energy efficiency and boost employment, which could mean new opportunities for engineers on electrical courses.
"It will apply to the non-domestic sector as well, so industrial and commercial gas and electricity consumers ... will be able to take advantage of the Green Deal," added Mr Hamblyn.
In his opinion, these are very interesting times for the energy sector, with the government currently seemingly happy to fund renewable energy initiatives.
The Esta Debate took place at the City of Manchester Stadium on November 16th 2010.
