Electrical courses could become more popular if more people start to want to install heat pumps in their homes, with one source suggesting government funding would be vital to ensure this happens.
Stewart Purchase, director of housing at Geothermal International, claimed the biggest issue consumers have with the technology is the capital cost, but that these expenses are coming down.
Engineers wanting to be ready to fit heat pumps may need to attend electrical courses to garner the expertise needed and Mr Purchase noted that such items could become popular since they are 'green' and reduce fuel bills.
He remarked: "Costs are coming down, knowledge is going up, installers are getting knowledgeable about what to do and how to install it, so it is still seen to grow very strongly in the future."
The Department of Energy and Climate Change recently revealed it is closing the Low Carbon Building Programme as part of government cuts.
