electrical course

We all aim to find that one company to work for who allows to us progress as the company builds. Not only can we gain a sense of self achievement in assisting company growth, but the great experience presented truly sets us aside from competitors. If we can find a company that allows for such achievements, it would be great if they offered career progression too. It is increasingly common for us to seek qualifications to help us stand out even further from the competition. Have you been working as an electrician and completed the City & Guilds 2365 Electrics Level 2 Course? It may be time for the next stage and enrol yourself on to the NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification. Undertaking such an electrical course is actually a requirement to achieving prestigious JIB Gold Card Status.

electrical course

As mentioned above, The NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification is for electricians who have existing work experience within the industry. Please note that this is not a training course! We do not want to simply enrol you on to an electrical course if you already hold the relevant theory and knowledge with regards to a particular topic. Here's what you're expected to be assessed on:

  • Health and safety – This is a theme that runs throughout the entirety of the course. Students must demonstrate they execute their work in a safe manor ensuring they abide by Health and Safety regulations
  • Environmental awareness. Students are required to understand how electrical work effects the environment with an emphasis on electrical installations
  • Site operation. Working on site often entails working alongside other professional tradesmen. This unit looks at working together for the best result
  • First Fix – Initial installation of wiring and containment systems
  • Second Fix – Connection of the above
  • The Inspection and Testing of electrical systems
  • Full Diagnosis – This looks at the testing techniques used to diagnose faults

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The electrical course is obtained through:

  1. A work/site-based assessment
  2. Portfolio building
  3. An AM2 (Based at our IET CENTRE of excellence in Dartford)

How long?

City & Guilds allow a 3 year time period for the evidence of a wide variety of work to be documented

We recommend aspiring electricians to demonstrate capability of both industrial and commercial work in which a more complex understanding is clearly shown.

So is it time to finally achieve your NVQ Level 3 Qualification? It WILL set you apart from the competition and it WILL give you a set of specialist skills like no one else!
