An industry body has highlighted the importance of gas safety in holiday accommodation, which could encourage some proprietors to enrol in gas courses.
Gas Safe Register spokesperson Sarah Hill claimed that tourists let their guard down when it comes to such issues and this is worrying.
According to the organisation's research, 37 per cent of people believed it was of utmost importance to have a carbon monoxide alarm at a property.
The institution stressed that all aspects of gas safety must have been checked at holiday homes, villas and cottages, which may lead some owners to sign up for gas courses, so they can offer a more efficient service.
"Understandably price is important when booking holiday accommodation in the UK or abroad, but your family's safety should be your number one priority," added Ms Hill.
Last month, Gas Safe Register revealed that some people may be putting their lives at risk by carrying out overly-advanced DIY projects and stressed the importance of hiring a professional who has completed the correct gas courses.
