Home-Study Level 2 Plumbing? In 2020
Here at Able Skills we teach a range of plumbing courses, plumbing is one of our most popular trades. We know that not everybody that wants to study here has the time to be here on a daily basis, working whilst studying can be hard, taking time of work is limited and we know this, so we have devised some alternative training methods - Including 'Home-Study'. Obviously we do not expect you to learn and entire trade in your own time, this is a course option that will allow you to learn certain aspects at home so that your time spent at our centre is shortened. Make the new year time for a new career with our plumbing courses or any other trade that you are interested in!

How does this option work?
The way this course works is simple you will learn the theory in your own time with the help of the resources that we will provide you with, including our 'Home-Study Learning Pack' and access to the online learning platform 'Smart-Screen'. With these two tools, take as long as you need to familiarise yourself with the theory surrounding the fundamentals of plumbing. Once you feel confident in this new found knowledge then you will book in 4-weeks for both practical learning and assessments.
The Home-Study Pack will include relevant theory on the following topics:
- Health and safety in building services engineering
- Electrical principles and processes for building services engineering
- Scientific principles for domestic, industrial and commercial plumbing
- Common plumbing processes
- Cold water systems
- Domestic hot water systems
- Sanitation
- Central heating systems
- Drainage systems
- Understand how to communicate with others within building services engineering
The 4-weeks can be chosen by you, and should be spread out not all in one 4-week period. This is where you will get hands-on and learn the practical skills of plumbing, our instructors will be there to guide you the entire way. Whilst studying here it is important to keep in mind that you are here to learn not just to gain your qualification, take your time, listen and ask questions to our instructors they have experience every scenario there is to come across as a plumber, they have worked out in the industry for many years before teaching. To complete thus course - you are assessed for the qualification by undertaking both practical assignments and on-line exams here at Able Skills. Once you have achieved this level 2 plumbing qualification you can consider undertaking a level 3 plumbing qualification or if you are already working as a plumber, you could consider being assessed for NVQ level 2.

If you live a considerable distance from our facility here in Dartford, but you are still very much interested in our plumbing courses then please be aware that we have accommodation available exclusively to our students just a short walk from our centre for just £20 per night!
