If you are looking to start a career in this trade there is no better alternative, we have the facilities, materials, tools and instructors to get you where you need to be. No matter your current skill level we are confident you can go from novice to professional with our Plumbing courses! - Today let's take a look at the qualifications you need to begin working out in the industry...
Level 2 Plumbing Course:
Obviously as an aspiring plumber you will first need to learn the trade. We offer a 6-week City & Guilds training program, the perfect starting point for anybody looking to make this trade their profession. Our City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing Course will teach you to become a plumber from scratch. You will start with the very basics and progress to a comprehensive understanding of domestic plumbing covering both theory in a classroom environment and practical skills taught in our workshops where students will have their own space to learn and develop. Our talented plumbing instructors will be on-hand constantly, providing guidance and insight into the industry. The course will provide you with a range of plumbing skills covering various topics including electrical principles and processes, common plumbing processes, cold water systems, domestic hot water systems, sanitation, central heating systems and drainage systems. Upon completion of this course you will be able to work out in the industry!
Don't have the time?
If you already have an existing job or simply prior arrangements that mean you are unable to commit to a 6-week course, know that we do offer some alternative training methods. Including the ability to take this Level 2 in it's entirety over a series of weekends instead of on a Monday to Friday basis. Hopefully this option to study with us on the weekend is useful for some of you who find they have little time on their hands during the week. We also offer a 'Home-Study' option - Our Home Study Level 2 Plumbing Course hopes to reduce the amount of time needed here at our centre by providing you with the materials needed to learn the theory side of the course at home, before returning to us for 4-weeks to learn the practical side and complete assessments. The 4-weeks can be chosen by you and should be separate!
NVQ:
Now that you have achieved a Level 2 qualification through our City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing Course you should be looking to pick-up a National Vocational Qualification. Gaining a Level 2 is essential when looking to gain a 'Skilled Worker Blue CSCS Card' which will enable you to work on many sites outside of a domestic setting. To achieve this you will need to have gained some experience working the trade and have a place of work to be assessed at. This is not training course, this is a assessment process where by we will send an assessor to your current place of work, over 2-visits our assessor will monitor you and judge whether or not you can complete work to a good standard, effectively and safely.
The work based Plumbing assessments will be to establish your competence in being able to:
- Maintain the Safe Working Environment when Undertaking Work Activities.
- Maintain Effective Plumbing Working Relationships.
- Contribute to the Improvement of the Plumbing Work Environment.
- Install Non-complex Plumbing Systems and Components.
- Decommission Non-complex Plumbing Systems.
