How do I get started with Gas training?
So, you are interested in becoming a Gas Engineer? Well you are in the right place, here at Able Skills we are experts in the subject and our instructors are here to take you from beginner to engineer. Do not be worried about not having any previous experience in the subject, we have specifically designed courses for new entrants, such as our New Entrant Gas Training Package 2. Everyone on this course will be in the same position as you, starting from scratch, so ask questions and seek advice from our instructors that is what they are here for!
This 7-week package of learning will include:
- Training on aspects of health and safety-relevant within the gas industry, including asbestos awareness
- Training to work safely around electrical systems
- Training in the use of copper and low carbon steel so that your pipe skills are established at an acceptable standard.
- Training on heating controls, Airing cupboard and radiator installation practices
- Training in all areas of domestic gas safety

When looking to start out in Gas it is important to learn at a reputable training centre. All you need to bring is some focuses and a pair of steel-capped boots. In addition, we have also thought about what you will come across as a working professional so we have a range of old and new appliances to accommodate for the range of, for example, boilers that you will come across on-site this is to ensure you don't come across a job that you are unfamiliar with. We aim to produce top-quality gas engineers that know what they are doing and can carry out a job correctly, effectively and safely. Remember though upon completion to carry out gas work legally in the UK you must be registered with the Gas Safe Register!
