Due to the highly-skilled nature of a career in the electrical sector, it should come as little surprise that those who are successful in the industry undergo robust training and assessments with a particular focus on health and safety.
While a career as an electrician is certainly an appealing one, finding the time to complete this training can be a hurdle for many, with traditional trade training routes often out of the question for those with prior commitments.
For this reason, Able Skills has adapted its approach to electrical training, offering home study options that significantly reduce the amount of time a person needs to attend a training centre in person.
Who are home study electrical courses for?
Our home study electrics courses are suitable for anyone wanting to build a career in the electrical industry, but who can’t commit to a structured period of attendance at a training centre or college.
Whether you’re fitting a course around an existing job or caring commitments, or simply live a long distance away from the training centre, a home study electrical course ensures training is more accessible whatever your circumstances.
How does a home study electrical course work?
Home study electrical courses allow you to begin your learning at home, at your own pace, via an in-depth study pack covering all the necessary theoretical knowledge. Contained within the study pack will be self-assessment papers which allow you to monitor your own progress.
You will also have access to a tutor via email should you have any questions about your study pack.
Once you feel confident and have completed the theory element of your learning, you can then book in at the centre to complete the practical training and assessments required to achieve your electrical qualification.
What electrical courses are available on a home study basis?
Whether you’re looking to take the next step in your electrical training, or are a complete beginner, Able Skills offers a range of electrical courses on a home study basis to suit all abilities.
Home Study Electrics Level 2: The City & Guilds Level 2 electrical course is the ideal starting point for anyone who is seriously looking to retrain as an electrician.
Home Study Electrics Level 3: Perfect for those who already hold a Level 2 qualification and are looking to progress their skills to Level 3, a mandatory requirement for achieving an NVQ.
Home Study Electrics Level 2 and Level 3: A combination of all the learning covered in both the Level 2 and Level 3 courses in one training package.
Home Study Gold Card Approved Electrician: An in-depth package of learning that will take participants from complete beginner to the level required of a fully qualified Gold Card Approved Electrician.
What are the benefits of home study?
Home study courses don’t have a specific start or end date, meaning you can complete your learning at a pace and time that suits you.
Payments are also made on an as-you-go basis, and the total cost of home study courses is less than the cost of a full-time course of the same qualification level, making budgeting more manageable.
When it is time to attend a training centre, Able Skills offers flexible dates and times to do so, meaning you can also fit the practical aspect of your qualification around prior commitments.
